SAAM: Moving from Awareness to Understanding
April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. While awareness is a start, understanding is where the real work begins.
Through my work in trauma-informed yoga and resilience coaching, I’ve learned that trauma isn’t a personality trait; it’s a physiological rewriting of the nervous system for survival. Healing isn’t a linear path, and strength doesn’t always look like a loud victory. Often, resilience is the quiet, daily choice to keep going.
To anyone navigating their own recovery: your story is not over. You are not “broken” systems; you are a person with a remarkably resilient architecture.
