Why Empathy is an Operational Skill
I am thrilled to share that I have been named a Founding Educator for the new Fitness Business Association (FBA) Certification. After years of curriculum development & hundreds of sessions, my course “Mirror to Connect: Build Instant Trust with Clients” was chosen as one of only ten core pillars.
This isn’t just a career achievement; it highlights that human connection is an essential asset.
Beyond the “Soft Skill” Myth
For too long, the fitness and business worlds have labeled rapport and empathy as “soft skills.” But through my own journey of resilience, I’ve learned that connection is some of the hardest work we do.
- Feeling Seen: The pivotal moment in my life was not a solution; it was a connection. It was when I felt truly acknowledged.
- The Framework: Mirroring, validating, and leading aren’t tricks; they are tools for creating psychological safety.
- The Mission: We aim to change lives. You cannot change a life without first making a connection.
Connection is the base of trust, and trust is necessary for progress. It’s time we start treating it with the respect it deserves.
